Shows, Workshops, New Paintings for LINDA WALKER'S Art
"Elepant Walk" 22" x 28" oil
Shown at the OPA National show at Dana Gallery in Missoula, MT through June 12, 2008.
New Paintings
Most of the paintings I do are to submit to juried shows.  This seems to help me keep my quality up and guides me to work on images I might not have done otherwise. I also paint a preliminary work while putting together a workshop and at times just something I want to do for either fun or to work on some technique, although each painting becomes fun & important to me. On occasion I will paint a commission but I don't hunt for them.
"Elephant Walk" 22" x 28"
2009 Juried into the WAOW National Membership show & will be shown at the Saks Gallery in Cherry Creek, CO.
In 2008 Elephant Walk was juried into the 17th Annual Oil Painters of America (OPA) show
This is larger than I normally paint but...elephants!
The reference was taken during a private safari in Kenya. We were stopped, a little close, & this matriarch took a bit of offense & ran us off. It was incredibly exciting.
"Cold Play" 12" x 16"
"Cold Play" 12" x 16"
The reference for this was taken on a drive during a particularly frigid day  (about -30). We stopped to watch these two horses play in the middle of a pasture. The background was from the same drive further down the road where the hoarfrost had enveloped the landscape.
"Lioness" 12" x 9" oil
"Lioness" 12" x 9"
Another from my African trip. I'm in the process of setting up the male lion as a companion piece & I may also do a cub. This is just a straight forward portrait, I learn so much about fur patterns & eyes & most importantly the expression.
"Hoar Frost" 11" x 14"
"Hoarfrost"  11" x 14"
Juried into the WAOW National Membership show & will be shown at the Saks Gallery in Cherry Creek, CO
I'm just finishing this piece so please forgive the poor photograph of it, I'll have a better one a soon as I know for sure it is finished.  The  reference comes from another of our winter drives. We pass this old barn on occasion & I have taken many photos of it & so decided I had better make use of them. I love the old barns around this area, they have such great character.

"Cradled in the Past" 12" x 24"
"Cradled in the Past" 12" x 24"
Currently being shown in the Red River Valley Museum Show in Vernon, TX. - Yea!  Won the Betty King Wright Award....YEA!!!!I had started this a long time ago and just a few months ago I pulled it out & because it had great bones I completely repainted it. I really like the changes, it makes me wish I could do that with more of my past works. I have learned so much about light, color, value & edges.
Workshops
I occasionally do a workshop. These are usually for  10 to 14 artists, any more & I don't feel I can give the individual instruction I like. The workshops are on subjects such as color theory, painting fur & feathers, painting a still life, landscapes, painting from photo reference, plein aire, etc.  I enjoy giving the workshops and find I come away with new ideas & knowledge.
If you would like to schedule a workshop please contact me.
