"HORN SECTION"OIL 12" X 16"
This is an oil sketch . A little more impressionistic than I usually work but it has a very beautiful glow and emotion. It is a very successful work and one I very much enjoyed painting and viewing.
This commissioned portrait was won by the highest bidder in a "Katrina Benefit Auction"
and now hangs in the private collection of
Robert and Carylon Mock
I truly enjoy painting images of the horses and bulls used in rodeo life. They are beautifully cared for, athletes with attitude.
Bulls are an amazement. So intimidating. I have really enjoyed the priviledge of going behind the chutes to photographa and sketch these big guys. This one just was so colorful and patterned so beautifully.
As intimidating as one bull is a pen of them makes your heart thump. These grand fellows belong to good friends of ours who own and work a rodeo company. They just have 'the look'.
I did a portrait of one of their favorites as a commission last year.
